Reflections Part 2 by The Bachster
It is true that she is changed by the presence of his existence; her heart will never again feel the depth of that kind of attraction. A kiss is not just a kiss. A kiss like that is a once in a lifetime kind of kiss. To feel as if one soul is connected to another soul by a force outside of life on this earth, messes with the mind. Who is supposed to know what that feels like? No-one. It’s too dangerous. It prevents sleep. For three days, no sleep. Her soul is quickened to a place she’s never been and it feels unsafe. She is scared and yet she presses on toward the light knowing full well the swelling heat could kill her. Her eyes are fixed forward, moving toward whatever this is and wherever it is going to take her. No turning back.
He offers glimpses of his love. A true gentleman. An honest gentleman. One who can laugh at himself and has lifelong friendships with people who respect him and he doesn’t try to hide that side of himself from her. A man who is funny, appropriately so. He makes her laugh. They laugh a lot, together. He has a close family who embrace his life’s work every chance they get.
It is true that he is guarded and jaded but it appears that sometimes he is slipping. Slipping off of that strong position of not wanting to be vulnerable again; the hill he once died on, not by choice, fading in the distance.
She never considers that he won’t come down off of that hill. Believing that love is strong enough to conquer all. Can she rescue his emotion and show him that his heart would never be broken with her? She tries. She certainly tries. She writes a song about it. In fact, she writes about fifty songs about him in totality and he also inspires a romance novella. Her creativity as a writer is at its highest yield of her lifetime because of him. With all of her might, she reaches out, opens herself up and yet I suppose there is a piece of her that continues to mitigate risk by pulling back at times; is he just a player? So many words never spoken. So many things to say.
